The True Path

"I am willing to give up everything," the prince said to the master. "Please accept me as your disciple."

"How is the path chosen?" asked the master.

"A path that demands sacrifice is the true path."

The master bumped into some shelves. A precious vase fell, and the prince leapt forward to catch it and broke his arm, but managed to save the vase.

Asked the master: "What is the greater sacrifice? To watch the vase smash, or break one's arm in order to save it?"

"I do not know," said the prince.

"Then how can you guide your choice of sacrifice?
The true path is chosen by our ability to love it, not suffer for it."

There is no path. There are no sacrifice. It is all selfishness. Just as the rich is selfish to earn more, the Sanyasi is selfish to earn moksha.
